Introduction - An Exploration of Microcapland
Welcome to Financial Skeptic’s Newsletter.
You might say, "Oh no, not another one" and often that's the first thing that comes to mind when someone promotes their new Substack.
So why am I doing this - launching the 1000th investment Substack? I've been a full-time microcap investor for two and a half years now, but aside from a few occasional posts on Twitter, no one sees what I do. That fact alone doesn't bother me at all, but I thought it might be helpful for potential future ventures to establish a public track record. So I plan to write about the investment positions I hold at irregular intervals. However, I do plan to publish a past performance update on investment ideas in a short, simple post each month.
So if you're looking forward to monthly reports, this probably isn't the substack for you, because my goal is not to produce content, but to be public with my investments. The most important thing to remember is that these are my personal investments and not recommendations in any form. I will publish how I think about the opportunities of certain companies and what were my arguments for investing. You may read my idea and find that you feel similarly about the company I wrote about, but this should only ever be a starting point for your own research. I can be wrong, and I regularly am, so please be aware that you cannot rely solely on my information, but must verify it yourself and research additional aspects of the company. This is even more important because I will be writing exclusively about microcap ideas, which are often extremely small and very illiquid, which will make it very difficult to exit if you and I are wrong about the potential opportunity.
So be assured that nothing I write on this platform constitutes investment advice and I can change my mind at any time after publication. The only thing I can guarantee is that I am writing my sincere opinion about a company at the time of publication.
I have a portfolio at the social trading platform wikifolio, which is mirrored by an investable certificate (probably only in German-speaking countries). Whenever possible, I will implement my ideas there as well, but this will often not be possible due to the limited stock universe on the platform. If you are interested in this portfolio, you can find it here (German), where you can also find the ISIN of the investable certificate.
